Hello I’m Helen.
A passionate foodie and nature lover.
I specialise in helping people with Gut Health issues. Gut Health is most commonly associated with digestive symptoms such as bloating and irregular bowel movements. But Gut Health is now well researched and is also linked to a host of other symptoms such as anxiety, depression, food intolerances, fatigue, brain fog, allergies including skin conditions to name a few.
My own journey started after a road to recovery from chronic fatigue and years of IBS symptoms that I thought were part of normal life. My passion for nutrition as well as transforming my life through nutrition and lifestyle changes led me to train with the highly renowned Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION) for 4 years to gain my qualification in Nutritional Therapy.
I understand the challenges of dealing with gut health issues and how frustrating they can be. I now enjoy supporting my clients through personalised dietary and lifestyle advice that is focused on improving Gut Health issues. My main clinic is at Draycott, Derby, but I also work out of Woodlands Natural Health Centre, Darley Abbey www.woodlandsnaturalhealthcentre.co.uk and online. My practice is evidence based, keeping up to date with all the latest research including current CPD events.

Nutritional Therapy is not a DIET as such it is about making nutrition and lifestyle changes which are unique and sustainable for you. Firstly it is about getting to know you through filling in a health questionnaire and food diary followed by working together during consultations. I will work to find out any underlying imbalances that are contributing to your symptoms which is backed up by scientific research. Tests are often recommended through your GP or reputable testing companies. I work on the principle of adding foods in to the diet to nourish the body whilst recognising that our body may be reacting to certain foods. We will then work together to collaborate a plan for you to take home.
Nutritional therapy is not a replacement for services in the medical profession and will often work along side GP's to support dietary and lifestyle changes as client safety is the first priority. Also, I am not permitted or trained to deal with certain conditions such as eating disorders which will be determined during the initial chat and health questionnaire.
Nutritional Therapy could help give you the tools you need to enable you to reach your health goals. This will involve commitment to gradually make simple changes to your diet and lifestyle which could help relieve gut symptoms such as diarrhoea, constipation and bloating. Allowing you to live a more normal life again with less anxiety and reap the rewards of living a healthier, happier lifestyle.
You may be wondering how many consultations you will need. I offer a range of packages which are aimed at supporting your needs. This will also set us up for success as you will be committed to a program that will give results.
